AMADEUS MUSIC WITH ART

TOP 5 FINALISTS

FUELLED POTENTIAL

Description: My design exhibits a fiery representation of youth and art with the bright reds, oranges and yellows against a contrasting blue background. I think flames are the perfect metaphor for creatives, representing a passion and playful artistic energy that is with us all in our youth and when nurtured and maintained, can remain in adulthood whether expressed through poetry, song or painting.

I visualise my own creative practice as a fire that I, and those who have inspired me, have fuelled so it immediately sprang to mind when designing this poster to combine the theme of ‘youth’ with creativity through the depiction of flames.

FINGER PAINTING

Description: I painted this piece with my fingers which is where the title 'Finger Painting' comes in.

Painting with my hands takes me back to the feeling I use to get as a child when I would Color with my crayons or get my hands all dirty with paint without a care in the world.

The message for this piece is that it’s ok to let your inner child take over especially when creating. Thank you for your consideration!

JUICY SOUND

Description: Youth involves internal conflicts, but these frictional forces squeeze special juice of art that are full of one's own creativity and freshness as a youth.

The design express two forces that are just about compressing a piece of music.

EL FUTURO ES TRANSPARENTE

Description: Young people today are transparent. They do, say and feel without limits, that's why I have represented them naked, because they have nothing to hide.

Just as artists captured their emotions on canvas or musicians composed their pieces by letting themselves flow, young people are the symphony of the future, which is why their bodies make up a staff. They are artists who scream, live and fight for a fair and necessary future, for this reason, there is no color that defines them (a reason for so many colors).

YOUTHFUL DANCE

Description:The design features various simplified drawings of red-crowned cranes, with a white band in the center cradling the AMADEUS Festival Vienna logo and dates. The red-crowned cranes, which have their red crown replaced with gold (matching the festival colors), were chosen as cranes symbolize eternal youth, luck, and happiness. Their sleek and elegant design reflect the youth of today's age (in regards to fashion, technology, and culture), while their elegance reflects the elegance of the festival and music performed during the festival.

All of the cranes are seen in a state of movement (either flying or "dancing"), reflecting the energetic mindset and drive generated/maintained by youth. While the cranes are simplified, they are still hand-drawn, giving a personal touch to the poster and reflecting the youthful and expressive creation of art. Red-crowned cranes traditionally have black secondary feathers, which are replaced by piano keys in this poster, as the shape and color of the feathers resemble a piano keyboard. These feathers are stylized in order to represent and enforce the theme of music (specifically classical and jazz music) in the poster in a subtle yet easily understandable manner.

The colors used in the poster (gold, purple, black, and white) are all colors previously used in branding and promotional material for the AMADEUS Festival Vienna. These colors are not only eye-catching and visually appealing, but also enforce the AMADEUS Festival Vienna brand and identity. This limited color palette maintains the simplicity and minimalism of the poster, while providing enough contrast for easy-reading, identification of the poster from a distance, and to a certain extent even those with visual impairments.

The font used for the dates (Futura Bold) further symbolizes youth, as it commonly represents progressiveness and the European Avant-garde, a movement known for its youthful and innovative expression. The font is also similar to (if not the same as) the font used for the dates in the poster for the 2022 Festival. This again enforces the brand and maintains consistency throughout the Festival's promotional content. Finally, the black logo has a gold "shadow", creating depth while making the poster appear more professional and elegant.
